Many experiments have been invented in the field of spiritualism. Among them the kayotsarga has been of fundamental practice. When kayotsarga is practised, other practices prove to be easy. Without kayotsarga, no other practice can be completely successful. That is why the practice of kayotsarga has been called the very foundation of spiritual sadhana. All meditative practices begin with kayotsarga.

The practice of kayotsarga is vast and wide. There is a term called shavasana in Hathayoga, which means lying like a corpse. Kayotsarga is the term used for it in the Jain Yoga. Kayotsarga does not mean becoming like a corpse, but it means the abandonment of the body. There is laxity in the actions of the body. Not only that, there is also alertness with regard to chaitanya. The greatest formula for Kayotsarga is giving up attachments. So long as attachments have a strong hold, spiritual sadhana is not possible and the background is always there for physical and mental illnesses. Any physical or mental illness can come and get aggravated and even become chronic only because of some complex or the other, he most important thing is giving up attachment. If we are no longer attached to the body, it functions better. If one’s attachment to the body grows, the body also falls in line with the diseases.
