Mahavira's Scripture Of Health: [09.12] Food And Health - Urine Therapy For Cleansing

In the Jain literature, there is a description of moka-pratima, which means the urine therapy. This is a method of cleansing in the case of an illness. Ejectment is as important as the intake of food. Ejectment does not merely mean the bringing out of the excreta. It also means the ejectment of the impurities accumulated in the cells. This ejectment is possible only by stopping the food intake. Temperance about food intake, ejectment and stopping food intake are the three main ways to maintain health. Health cannot be maintained merely by the balanced diet. We can become healthy only by practising not eating side by side with eating.

It would be possible to attain a healthy state when our life pattern keeps in mind the formulae presented by the modem nutrition experts as well as by Lord Mahavira. Food and health cannot be taken as terms with different meanings. The two mean the same thing.
