It is easy for us to know and understand the gross world since we live in it. Ours is a world the world of subtle. The subtle world is invisible so it is also unknowable. It cannot be easily known. The body is gross. The mind is subtle than the body. We are even able to understand the mind. The world of the bhava is very subtle. There is a series of connecting link between the gross world and the subtle world. It is not easy to understand those connecting links since in the field of medical treatment we only touch the gross world. Diseases are said to be of two types: physical and mental. Physical diseases were recognised earlier, but now the concept of mental disease too is quite in vogue. People have started believing that the mind influences the body. Along with that, the term psycho-somatic disease has also become popular. This is a new principle that has developed. It was already recognised in Ayurveda, but it has been very well developed in the modern medical science.
