Worship of Friendship: Worship of Energy
Without energy, there can be no friendship. The worship of friendship means the worship of energy, of power. Endurance is energy. Without the adoration of energy, the feeling of friendship can never be stable. Also, without energy, one cannot do away with defilements. A feeble person resolves to exercise goodwill a hundred times a day and pushes out of his mind all thought of enmity. Yet, a particular situation arises and his mind is filled with enmity. The sky of his consciousness is never without a cloud. To clear it he needs the energy of tolerance, of purity.
