Published: 28.06.2021

In the practice of perception of body we need to perceive our body, not with the eyes but with the mind. Eyes will be closed. Take your mind to each and every organ of your body and perceive the conversion, vibration, shivering or sensation etc., remain with the feeling as spectator towards them by keeping your mind free from likes or dislikes.

Stress on the following point clearly during the training and also repeal while practicing. Only perceive the sensation from contact with your clothes, itching, pain etc. whatever are the experiences. You have to only perceive, you need to only experience that.

  1. Concentrate your psyche upon the big toe of your right foot. Allow it to spread and permeate throughout the whole portion of the toe Perceive the sensations and vibrations taking place in that region. Become aware of them, experience them without any like or dislike, use deep concentration and remain fully alert.

  2. In the same way each of the toes, the sole, the heel, the ankle, the calf-muscles, the knee, and the thigh up to the hip joint of the right limb. (Make them to perceive every part for half to one minute)

  3. Perceive the whole part; experience the sensations and vibrations taking place in each part. Maintain equanimity. You (trainer) don't need to say the above sentence for every part of the body. Repeat in between once or twice.

  4. In the same way make them practise perception of all the similar parts of their left limb. (Make them perceive telling out the name of each part for half to one minute). The trip to lower body completes here.

  5. Now start the trip of middle body. Concentrate your mind at the total area of lower abdomen, to the left, right, front, back, inside and outside, and experience the sensations of energy taking place in that region. Just perceive them without any like or dislike. After a minute or two, travel to the whole abdomen in the same way. Perceive for one to two minutes.

  6. Now perceive each of the abdominal organs- both the kidneys, large intestine, small intestine, pancreas, duodenum, stomach, spleen, liver and diaphragm. Perceive each organ
    for twenty to thirty seconds.

  7.  Now travel to the whole portion of chest, left, right, front, back, inside and outside. Concentrate your psyche on every portion and experience the sensation of energy taking place there. Now perceive each part of chest- heart, left ribs, right ribs, left lung and right lung.

  8. The complete portion of back- spine, the top of the spinal cord, spinal cord, neck is to be perceived next.

  9. Now perceive both hands. Right hand, thumb, fingers, palm, wrist to lower arm and from elbow to the shoulder.

  10. In the same way perceive every part of the left hand from thumb to the shoulder.

  11. Then concentrate on neck, sound box, and every part one by one and perceive them. With this the trip of middle body completes here.

  12. Now start the trip of the upper body. The chin, the lips, the. inner portion of the mouth, gums, teeth, tongue, pallet, the cheeks, the right temple, the left temple, the nose, the right ear, right earlobe, left ear, left ear lobe, right eye, left eye, the forehead and the head. Perceive every part one by one. The trip of the upper body is completed.

  13. Now practise the perception of body as a whole. Those who can comfortably perceive in a standing position they should do so. The psyche has got capacity to perceive on the single point and it can spread all over the body at a time. Allow your psyche to concentrate on both the big toes and travel from there to the head and from the head to the big toes, rather speedily. Passing through each part of the body, in between practise the perception of body with controlled breath. Perceive the vibrations throughout the body. Experience a tingling sensation in each and every  muscle, skin, nerve and cell produced by the contact of your conscious mind. Only perceive the sensation from contact with your clothes, perspiration, itching, vibrations, pain etc.Whatever are the experiences, you just perceive them. Remain with the feeling of spectator towards the sensations; try to keep your mind free from like and dislike.

  14. Now travel slowly, and if you experience anywhere the sensation of pain or distraction; wait there at the particular spot for a while. Just perceive that sensation, with the feeling of spectator towards the same. (3minutes)
