What is essential for the success of spiritual practice-knowledge or tranquillity?

From the Anekant viewpoint, it can not be said that either of the two is more essential than the other.
Both, knowledge and tranquillity are essential.

The difference has to be understood.

If tranquillity is more and knowledge less, then spiritual consciousness can be developed at one's will.

If, on the other hand, tranquillity is less and knowledge is more,
spiritual consciousness can not be developed at one's will.
