Animesh preksha or fixed vision is an art.

Nimesh (twinkling) is the nature of the eyes.
Our eyes are constantly closing and opening, even when we think we are watching something continuously.
The eyes open, the lids keep falling down.

We thus face obstacles to our vision, but do not realise it.
Yoga acharyas have conducted experiments to practise animesh.
When the eyes are always open it is called tratak.

This is a wonderful experimentation with the vision, a special technique of spiritual practice (sadhana).
Through this one can achieve the thoughtless state.
It gives distinct knowledge of the changing modes of objects.
